Bruce Lyons started his remodeling career in 1972 working with his father’s St. Paul based remodeling company, Merle’s Construction.
“I have had the good fortune to learn the industry because my dad had a very successful general contracting remodeling business for 46 years. So a lot of things that I had the privilege to do, like doing business on a handshake because the trust was there based on the previous experiences customers have had. I learned right away the importance of reliability and the importance of being helpful and honest with people about what’s in their best interest.”
After spending 7 years in California owning an award winning kitchen and bath showroom, Bruce moved back to the Twin Cities in 1992. He and his team take pride in hard work and helping people make good decisions.
“One of the things that I take a lot of pride in and work very hard at is helping people make good decisions. There are so many different options, so many different materials there’s never one right plan but there are always better and worse and there are things that are valuable to one person that aren’t so much to another. So helping people make good decisions is an important part of what we do.”
Bruce says one of his biggest strengths is the loyalty that he has earned, both with his team as well as the clients he serves.
“The most satisfying part other than seeing the changes are the relationships I have with my clients and those relationships don’t end at the end of the job. Many people who I’ve worked for in the past will still call me and I’ll come out and do something small that I may not normally do but because we’ve worked together on a project I want to be the one to continue to work with them because we have that established relationship.”
